The Riverbank ParkSaint-Satur (18)

Project Description
Saint-Satur, long focused on its town center, is now opening up to the Loire Lateral Canal following the demolition of the silos that once formed a barrier. This ambitious project aims to reconnect the town with its waterfront by creating a vast river park, offering a new public space for gatherings and leisure.
Designed as a phased transformation, the redevelopment is structured around three main pillars: the creation of a public square, the ecological restoration of the Colette stream, and the revitalization of the canal banks. The project also highlights the site's industrial heritage while integrating community gardens, educational features on local flora and fauna, and social spaces.
A "clearing" concept allows for flexible programming, accommodating food trucks, Christmas markets, river and nautical activities, and informal play structures.
The development strategy is based on gradually introducing uses that encourage residents to reclaim the site. Given the scale and length of the area, these activities will be implemented over time. The priority is to ensure a seamless connection between the town center and the canal, creating a generous and welcoming environment that can evolve to meet changing needs.
