AgoraÉvry (91)

Project Description

Évry is the result of an ambitious dream—the vision of the new towns created from scratch to accommodate the post-war population boom. Shaped by a highly functionalist logic that separated pedestrian and vehicle flows, these cities were often built on elevated slabs, depriving their inhabitants of a connection to natural ground. Today, Évry’s rehabilitation aims to restore this connection by reuniting the city with its living soil.

This is not merely a return to greenery, but a full immersion into a natural landscape. Majestic trees, imposing rocks, and open clearings now take root in the city, offering a powerful sensory experience, a feeling of escape, and a sense of well-being.

New gathering spaces are also being created: parks, alleys, and plazas become places where residents and visitors meet, exchange, and share moments of conviviality. Nature is no longer just a backdrop—it becomes a central element, giving Évry a renewed identity and enhancing its appeal.

By reconnecting the city to its natural ground, this project reinvents the legacy of the new towns. It places people and nature at the heart of urban design, shaping a vibrant city that is close to both its inhabitants and its environment.
