La Prairie Garden SquareCachan (94)

Project Description
In Cachan, an abandoned gas station had turned into a hub for hard drug dealing. The traumatized residents wanted no further use of the space.
The project radically transforms the area in a short time by introducing a grove, a nature-filled area with trees, offering comfort and tranquility.
In the heart of this small urban forest, two meadows are created, which could one day be embraced by the residents, becoming playgrounds, shared gardens, or pétanque courts... Alcoves are sculpted into the vegetative border surrounding the area, providing spaces for benches.
This is now an evolving, appropriable space, open to change, restoring pride—pride in living in this neighborhood, a sanctuary of nature and peace.
The materials used in the grove, an open and fertile landscape, reveal the geography and history of the area. Wetland plants evoke the riparian forest of the Bièvre river: alders, willows, sedges... The terracotta bricks recall an industrial past.
