Gourdine QuayLagny-sur-Marne (77)

Project Description
The Gourdine Quay in Lagny-sur-Marne is located on the left bank of the river, at the edge of the Parisian urbanization. Our project focuses on reconnecting the urban fabric with the Marne, offering a pathway toward the countryside by creating or restoring various natural spaces to enhance the enjoyment of the site. It re-establishes a link between the city and countryside, forming a promenade at the scale of the territory.
This initiative involves hydraulic and urban renaturation, showcasing the river and its ecosystems while addressing contemporary challenges of integrating nature into urban settings. The project also fosters social connections by encouraging new uses along a shared promenade. It creates opportunities to establish new relationships with water through lookouts, footbridges, and pontoons, transforming them into vibrant gathering places.
The renaturation actively contributes to improving conditions for biodiversity. To ensure the stability of the riverbank and resist scouring and erosion, the sub-aquatic design employs bioengineering techniques. This approach provides hiding spots for fish, which repopulate spawning grounds. By accounting for hydraulic dynamics and ensuring the autonomy of the floodplain, the project's longevity is secured.
This initiative breathes new life into the area, offering residents the joy of exploring and experiencing a natural environment where life thrives across diverse landscapes. A variety of activities emerge: strolling, jogging, dog walking, picnicking, meeting up... The project fosters a renewed relationship with the river, its light, and its changing rhythms as a powerful element of nature, while opening new spaces for leisure and tranquility.
