Agnettes NeighborhoodGennevilliers (92)

Project Description

Les Agnettes is a neighborhood of large housing estates, a legacy of the modernist movement. Located in a bend of the Seine in Gennevilliers, it runs along an oxbow of the river, near the town hall, served by metro line 13 and soon by line 15.

As in many neighborhoods from this era, the park in this "park-city" was never realized. The project finally brings to life the utopia of living in close contact with nature, in a vibrant and connected neighborhood.

The park's vocabulary is used to redesign the public spaces, incorporating its wealth of characteristic structures: the grove, the promenade, the edge, the orchard, the meadow... The landscape strategy, the organization, and distribution of plant species allow the neighborhood to regain urban coherence. The project builds on two pre-existing urban axes, reinforcing their routes, enhancing their significance, extending their boundaries, and making their formalization unique.

Urban agriculture is also a driving force behind the neighborhood’s renewal. It strengthens the area's plant life and garden-like quality, particularly through harvesting beds for residents' use. Shared gardens at the base of buildings, visible from the street, contribute to this landscaped environment. The expansive lawns become dynamic, functional, and productive spaces. Playgrounds and sports areas are integrated between the groves, resembling protected clearings.
