Project Description

At the entrance to Sarrebourg, between the avenue du Général de Gaulle, the sports grounds and the Sarre valley, the former dairy site opens a new chapter. The urban planning, capacity and vocation study imagines a residential neighbourhood turned towards the wider landscape: a place to live a few steps from the river, its ponds and its wooded banks.

Paths to reach the Sarre
The project starts from the geography. The north-south streets, planted and flowering, extend the fabric of the neighbouring houses and lead down to the Sarre. The east-west streets, parallel to the river and the slope, evoke the presence of water through wetland vegetation. Along the departmental road, a thick wooded edge extends the valley landscape and keeps traffic at a distance.

The central walk, backbone of the neighbourhood
A wide tree-lined, planted walk crosses the neighbourhood and leads to the banks of the Sarre. Along it: orchards, shared picking gardens, simple public spaces that manage rainwater in the open. It is the place of everyday life: people stroll, play, pick fruit and meet.

Living between town, sport and nature
The neighbourhood offers a variety of ways of living, from individual houses to small apartment buildings, with homes for older people set close to meeting places. A green corridor of gardens links the streets to the sports grounds; footpaths and allotment gardens open access to natural areas. Open spaces frame distant views towards the Sarre's riverside woodland and the hillsides.

A neighbourhood built over time
The project unfolds in stages, starting from the existing roads: the first homes and paths prefigure, from the outset, the large open spaces of the neighbourhood, which are completed phase after phase.
