Montgé ForestCuisy - Montgé-en-Goële (77)

Project Description
Located to the north of the Paris region, the Montgé Forest spans over one hundred hectares at the top of a witness hill, part of a network of hills that mark the end of the Plain of France. This unique geographic configuration makes it a remarkable space, both for its ecological richness and its landscape potential.
The Montgé hill stands out due to its complex geological stratification, composed of layers of sand, extracted from a quarry to the east of the forest, and a layer of clay, which forms four watershed areas that structure the forest in radiating valleys.
These geological features have sculpted a varied relief and created differentiated microclimates depending on altitude, orientation, and exposure. This diversity offers a mosaic of ecosystems ranging from shaded, wet areas to more exposed, dry spaces, fostering exceptional biodiversity. The ponds located on the heights of the forest further enhance this natural wealth.
Dominating the Plain of France, the Montgé Forest offers exceptional views of the surrounding landscape. This positioning strengthens its landscape value and gives it a strategic dimension, helping to understand the geography and territorial dynamics.
In close proximity to Charles de Gaulle Airport, the forest lies in an air corridor, subject to the noise and atmospheric pollution caused by air traffic. These constraints give rise to major issues related to air, water, and soil quality, with an ecological impact extending far beyond the boundaries of the forest.
Given these challenges, the Montgé Forest has the potential to become a research and innovation laboratory for air and water quality management. Through its influence on a vast territory, it can play a central role in developing sustainable solutions to improve local environmental conditions.
The study of Montgé Forest offers a unique opportunity to design an exemplary project combining preservation, ecological enhancement, and environmental innovation. This project is part of an ambitious approach aimed at transforming the forest into a key player in regional environmental balance and developing a model for the sustainable management of natural spaces.
