Village CenterHanches (28)

Project Description

Located along the river in the Drouette Valley, Hanches is the result of the merging of three villages. The project redefines and revitalizes the currently scattered town center, which, while equipped with essential facilities like the Saint-Germain Church, the town hall, the market hall, and the multipurpose hall, lacks spatial and commercial structures. It is essential to break free from the conventional image of a city center composed of monuments and public spaces animated by shops.

The project proposes an alternative form of urbanism, linked to geography and the river. The town center becomes a focal point of the Drouette Valley, connecting the villages together. The village opens to its surrounding wetland landscape, creating a dialogue with the river.

Through a network of walkways and gentle connections, the new town center contributes to a vast system of parks, each with distinct natural textures that vary according to the location and usage.

The most active park is located near the town's facilities. A more sports-oriented park sits lower down, along the stream, integrating tennis courts and fields for collective sports. A large wetland park offers generous riverside walkways, enhanced by footbridges and washhouses.
