Town centreBréhal (50)

Project Description
Like many French market towns, the centre of Bréhal is strongly shaped by car use and the omnipresence of parking. The few existing public spaces are often taken up by car parks, limiting the creation of friendly, accessible places for residents.
The Vieux Pressoir quarter of Bréhal is still little known to its residents despite its proximity to the heart of the town. This place, made up of a few courtyards linked by cobbled streets such as rue du Vieux Pressoir, holds an orchard at its centre, a real natural asset that deserves to be showcased.
The project plans to turn the various buildings of the quarter into workshops for craftspeople and to build housing, bringing this area back to life while preserving its historic character and diversity.
The Vieux Pressoir project offers a real opportunity to create, right in the town centre, a high-quality meeting place for residents. This new space could host local craft markets, exhibitions and other events encouraging exchange and conviviality. Kept free from cars and parking, it would become a true hub of activity for the quarter.
As part of the project, opening up the Vieux Pressoir quarter will fully integrate it into the centre of Bréhal. Measures to calm traffic at the neighbouring junctions will improve safety and comfort for pedestrians and cyclists, while allowing the town to extend naturally towards this previously isolated quarter. The project thus aims to create smoother links between the different urban spaces and to offer residents a more pleasant and connected environment.
