Loire WindowRigny-Ussé (37)

Project Description

The project involved creating an installation along the Loire River, along the towpath and the large cycling promenade, below the dike, within a grove of willows and alders in the riparian woodland.

Artist Eva Jospin installed an observation post of the river in this location in a very delicate manner, akin to a folly in a park: a door and a seating area that reveal viewpoints and guide pathways. This bronze piece, with a bark-like texture, interacts with the existing vegetation.

In contrast to this piece, which invites immersion in the damp riverside vegetation, allowing one to breathe in its coolness and enjoy the changing light amplified by the water's reflections, the connection to the Château de Rigny-Ussé is reimagined in a radical and contemporary way, as a large land-art installation spanning the river's main bed.

This installation crosses various arms of the river and reweaves the connection between the castle and the river, which is the reason for its presence at that specific location. The two installations, with their unique vocabulary, reveal the Loire at two different scales, illustrating the relationship between man and the river.
